Option-O Product Gallery
Embracing an aged office space in Carlton, Melbourne, we segmented off a 20sqm footprint to create an intimate product gallery for coffee scientists Option-O. The utilitarian space is designed to convey an engineered aesthetic - as an extension of the brand’s high-tech product - through clean lines, minimal forms, and anchored planes, creating an organised environment to facilitate the intimate exchange between guests and machine.
We designed each element within the space to offer a balanced expression of function and form; from the raw steel kitchen, shelving, and display islands, to the panelised timber feature wall which divides the gallery from the back-of-house and integrates a hidden pivot door.
The sleek, reductive, and industrial approach to the space reflects the inner mechanics and refined facade of Option-O’s engineered products. Exposed conduits celebrate the skeletal structure of the space and perforated ceiling panels allow a glimpse of the building’s plumbing and electrical framework, while the repeated planes of the custom timber and steel joinery bring finesse and refinement to the experience.
