Lean Dish

An observational concept informed by user behaviour, the lean dish is a concept inspired by the age-old practice of leaning two slices of fresh toast together, in order to aerate the hot slices and allow them to become crispy. This going against the common practice of throwing them flat onto a plate, resulting in cold, soggy slices of bread.

The lean dish is designed with this simple function in mind. Two subtle ridges are raised just high enough and spaced just far enough apart, to support a varying range of bread sizes. Moulded feet elevate the base of the plate off the surface of the table, creating a visual elegance and lightness to the object.
