July Retail Gallery

We designed July’s Retail Gallery to balance the playfulness of the brand with a statement of maturity, permanence, and refinement. Ergonomics and function are at the core of the space, with the hero being a tiered steel benchtop that optimises the product viewing experience, a customisable display shelving system, and an integrated lighting scheme that brings the product to life. All of this set amidst a monolithic, continuous stone wall which acts as a canvas to the brand’s high-quality goods.

The whole store is grounded by a central, monolithic steel island which serves as the point of engagement. The feature island is tiered to provide two surface heights: one for guests to comfortably open up product on (750mm), and another at working height (900mm), serving as an ergonomic surface for gallery staff to work at.

We endeavoured to use materials that are built to last, and in doing so, age beautifully: hand trowelled, recycled quartz stone walls for longevity and durability, mild steel joinery for heavily used surfaces, concrete floors, and commercial-grade fabrics for seating. Storage and shelving is adjustable to allow for flexibility as the gallery evolves, and lighting is versatile to enable ongoing adaptive use.
